AC Running but Not Cooling? What to Tell Our Team

We explain which cooling symptoms are useful to note, what you can check without opening equipment and when to arrange an AC assessment.

Describe what the system is doing

An air conditioner can sound busy while your home still feels too warm. Before you call, notice whether air is coming from the vents, whether it feels different from normal and whether the problem affects every room. You do not need to identify a failed part to give us useful information.

Tell us when you first noticed the change and whether it happens throughout the day or only at particular times. Mention any recent thermostat changes, maintenance or repairs. A clear description helps us understand the problem you want us to assess.

Keep simple checks separate from repairs

You can check the thermostat’s displayed mode, set temperature and schedule without opening the HVAC equipment. A setting that changed unexpectedly may explain why the system is behaving differently. Note what the display says so you can share it with us rather than making repeated changes while trying to diagnose the issue.

If your filter is accessible and you know the manufacturer’s care instructions, check its condition and confirm the specified size. Keep furniture and other belongings clear of accessible supply and return grilles. Leave electrical panels, refrigerant connections and internal components to a qualified technician.

Mention airflow, noise and moisture

Weak airflow, unfamiliar sounds, indoor humidity and visible moisture are different observations, even when they happen together. Tell us which ones you have noticed. If you already have a photo of a visible issue, it can help explain your concern without removing covers or reaching into equipment.

A symptom alone does not establish the cause. For example, a room that feels warm may need a closer look at air distribution as well as the cooling unit. We assess the system before discussing a repair or replacement.

Ask what the assessment means

When we review your AC, ask us to explain the identified issue and the scope of the proposed work. It is useful to distinguish the repair being recommended from other conditions that may need attention. That conversation helps you compare the next steps with the equipment you already have.

We service central air conditioning and mini-split systems and work with all major AC brands. If replacement deserves consideration, we can talk through the equipment and installation needs. We offer free estimates on new AC installations; that offer does not mean every diagnostic or repair visit is free.

Call with the details you have

Have your address, equipment information and a short description of the cooling problem ready when you contact us. Share any access details that will matter for an assessment. You can also let us know which questions you most want answered.
